Questions

Do I get compensation if my flight is cancelled?

Yes, unless the airline told you at least 14 days before departure, or told you later but put you on a flight close to your original times, or the cancellation came from extraordinary circumstances it couldn’t avoid.

How close does the new flight have to be?

With 7 to 14 days’ notice, no compensation is due if the new flight leaves no more than two hours early and lands less than four hours late. With under 7 days’ notice, it must leave no more than one hour early and land less than two hours late.

How much is it?

£220, £350 or £520 a passenger by distance, the same as for delays. The airline can halve it when the new flight lands within two, three or four hours of the original (by distance band).
